The Church has recently updated out buildings with the Kindoo lock system. Below is a list of answers to frequently asked questions about this change.
FAQ’s
The Kindoo App works on both iPhone and Android phones and provides account holders access to the buildings using Bluetooth technology. When you get close to an access point it will let you know if you have access or not and you can unlock the door through the app.
The Kindoo accounts are connected to our LDS Tools accounts and are managed by callings by the stake.
Certain callings in the wards and stake are updated automatically when members are called and released. Other members are specifically designated by wards or the stake to have access, and are managed manually at the stake level.
Our stake was granted a total of 50 accounts for stake use as well as 20 accounts for each ward. This is a limited number of accounts that doesn’t cover everyone we would want to have access, but it’s the amount that we will need to work with moving forward.
No. Access is only available on each member’s personal device and should not be loaned out.
No. The Kindoo App works through short-range Bluetooth which requires the device to be near the door in order to unlock it.
In most cases, we ask that you contact someone in your ward who has access and ask them to let you in the building. In certain cases, temporary access can be granted by the stake to have access to a building for a limited amount of time such as wedding receptions and other similar activities. Please contact Darryl Logan from the High Council for approval and access.
For cleaning assignments, we ask that wards make accommodations for a member with access be present to let people into the building.
For building lock up, it might not be possible for someone with access to the building to always be present. In such cases, we ask that you simply check all doors from the outside to make sure they’re locked. If you find a window open and you don’t have access to the building, you will need to call someone who does have access and ask them to come let you in so that the window can be closed from the inside.
The list below shows which callings in the stake and wards have access to the building. This will change over time.
